Kekaha Kai State Park, formerly known as Kona Coast State Park, is a beach park located along the north Kona coast. Sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling are common activities.

The main beach areas are Maniniʻowali Bay (Kua Bay), Makalawena beach at Puʻu Aliʻi Bay, and Mahaiʻula Bay.

A 4.5-mile hike on the historic coastal Ala Kahakai Trail, leads to Kua Bay. Halfway through the Trail, a hike to the summit of Pu’u Ku’ili, a 342-foot high cinder cone, offers a breathtaking view of the coastline.

Don’t forget to bring your water, as it gets hot here and there are no water fountains.
