Hilo International Airport was originally known as General Lyman Field back in 1989. This airport, which has a 9,800 feet long runway, covers around 1,391 acres and it is located on the eastern side of the island of Hawaii.
Getting to and from the Airport
Hilo International Airport offers public parking where you’ll present a ticket once you leave the lot. The first 15 minutes in the lot are free, but after that, you must pay to be parked there. The cost of parking ranges from $1 (16-30 thirty minutes) to $15 (entire day). Upon entry, you’ll receive a ticket that you will present once you leave.
This airport provides a ground transportation area where you can rent cars and book shuttles to get to your location. They have a wide variety of car rental companies that they work with including Avis, Advantage Rent a Car, Budget Rent a Car, Dollar Rent a Car and Hertz Rent a Car. They also have a wide variety of shuttles that will take you to your hotel.
Hilo International Airport is segmented into three parts – a West End, Center, and East End. In the West End, you will be able to find Gates 3, 4 and 5 on the second floor. In the Center, you will be able to find Gate 6 and on the East End, Gates 7, 8 and 9 reside on the second floor. Services and Amenities
