What to Bring to Hawaii

Getting ready for your trip to Hawaii? Aside from the logistical aspects - plane tickets, lodging, car - you want to make sure you pack everything that you'll need. Aside from the things that you pack for every trip, you'll want to take some things specifically for Hawaii. Don't worry, we're here to help - we'll help you think about some things you may need for your Hawaii vacation and give you a checklist.

Beach Storage

If you plan on going into the water at the beach, you'll want to think about how you're going to store your valuables so that they're out of sight.  Losing things like car keys, ID's, wallets, cellphones, and credit cards on a vacation make for a horrific trips.  We found some creative ways to hide your valuables.  In this Lifehack article, we found the most intriguing ideas to be using a diaper to hide your valuables on the beach. For a more permanent solution, here's a review of best beach bags. Beach bags are nice because they can be waterproof, easy to brush sand from, and can hold the less valuable things you'll need at the beach (water, snacks, towels, clothes, books, etc.).

e-Reader

While you're on your long flight or on the beach, you'll probably want to keep yourself entertained.  One of the best way to do this is by reading.  You may want to just bring some books.  However, you may want to bring something electronic to read from so you can carry more "books" or have something easier to hold.  If you already have a tablet, you may want to bring that.  However, you may also consider an e-reader since they are less expensive, in case sand or water gets on it at the beach (or it gets stolen/lost).  If you don't already have an e-Reader, here's a review for CNET to help you.

Snorkeling Set

If you plan on snorkeling, you may want to bring the gear with you.  This is especially true if you plan on snorkeling more than once or if you're bringing a family with multiple people who will want to enjoy the rich wildlife underwater.  Buying snorkeling gear will save you money over renting, and you own it, so you can use it on future excursions.  Here's a look at the best snorkeling gear.

Bodyboard or Surf Board

Similar to the snorkeling set idea, if you're looking to bodyboard (or surf), you may want to bring your gear with you.  However, with surf boards, it may cost you more money to bring it since it will cost extra money to ship it due to its height.  Bodyboards make a lot more sense (from a money saving perspective).  This review on best bodyboards will help you find the best match for you.
